Precious Sea Summit: The First Event Dedicated to the Treasures of the Sea

On May 21, Torre del Greco will host the first edition of the Precious Sea Summit, an event bringing together the jewelry community to explore the value of marine resources, alongside the contemporary challenges tied to their craftsmanship and production

Coral, cameos, mother-of-pearl, shells, pearls: the sea preserves natural treasures that, through human craftsmanship, become vibrant and compelling jewels. Created to preserve and enhance their value, the Precious Sea Summit marks a new event for the industry calendar. Taking place on May 21, 2026, in Torre del Greco, the summit will bring together stakeholders from across this broad sector for the first time.Organized by Assocoral and Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), in collaboration with the ConsorzioCorallo e CammeoTorrese, the event is conceived as a platform for dialogue and exchange aimed at identifying shared strategies around the challenges currently facing the supply chain, including traceability, protection, and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship. Artisans, companies, designers, research centers, trade associations, and institutional representatives will all take part in the discussion.“We immediately welcomed Assocoral’sproposal to bring to the Torre del Greco district a moment of reflection on issues that already resonate internationally through Vicenzaoro, our reference hub for the global jewelry industry,” said Matteo Farsura, Global Exhibition Manager of IEG’s Jewellery & Fashion division, which oversees the calendar of international B2B jewelry events including VicenzaoroOroarezzoJGTD, and SIJE.“Being close to manufacturing districts means understanding their specificities, supporting their evolution, and amplifying their voice across global markets. This vision guides our role as a strategic platform capable of fostering collaboration between companies, institutions, and trade associations, finding its highest expression in Vicenzaoro. The Precious Sea Summit represents another step in our Jewellery Agenda, dedicated to promoting Italy’s excellence supply chains, through which we are strengthening our presence in the gold and jewelry sector with 25 events in 2026, including trade fairs, international initiatives, and district-based events.”The decision to host the summit in Torre del Greco is far from accidental. The town has preserved a centuries-old tradition linked to coral and cameo craftsmanship. As Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO, the event’s main partner, noted: “We are shining a light on a segment of Italian excellence built on precious objects and outstanding artisanal craftsmanship handed down through generations. It is a tradition rooted in dedication and daily practice, especially in coral and cameo carving, fields in which Torre del Greco has long been an international reference point. I believe it is more than deserved to bring this heritage to the attention of the industry, nationally and internationally, as an emblematic example of how local identity and global competitiveness can coexist and generate value.”The initiative has already received the patronage of Agenzia ICEConfindustria FederorafiConfcommercioFederpreziosiD.OR.Campania, and Federalberghi Costa del Vesuvio. The event is organized in synergy with the Municipality of Torre del Greco and Banca di CreditoPopolare, which will host the roundtable discussion at Palazzo Vallelonga. The panel will be moderated by Giovanni Micera, editor of industry publication Preziosa Magazine, media partner alongside VO+ magazine. The program also includes visits to the Francesco Degni Art High School, local workshops, and the Coral Museum.
