After fashion, food and construction, with the Kering Group’s Italian brand, the jewelry sector has been awarded the prestigious recognition by the Società Italiana Marketing (SIM – Italian Marketing Society), a scientific association that groups together the entire academic marketing community.

The Marketer of the Year 2021 award was, in fact, presented to Sabina Belli, CEO of the Pomellato Group, at Bicocca University, the first woman to receive the SIM award. «I am honored to have received the Marketer of the Year award and I would like to dedicate it to the many women who, even today, are subject to inequality in their professional career. I have always believed that, besides profit, it is necessary to generate “meaning” and identity. Marketing allows you to go beyond a company mission and add a 'bigger' objective that can express values and a train of thought that summarizes the position of a brand in its society of reference. That is why, in my vision, Pomellato is, and must be, a pioneer, always committed to sustainability and inclusiveness with tangible actions. From the relentless pursuit of new methods of sustainable raw material sourcing, to the many initiatives in favor of the environment, to the commitment to equality and female empowerment. I hope that my award will inspire the managers and leaders of tomorrow not only to produce but “to do”, thus generating ever-increasing value for society,» said Sabina Belli.

Sabina Belli has been CEO at Pomellato since 2015 and is an international expert in the luxury market and the management of highly creative and innovative teams. Her considerably successful career has always featured a managerial approach oriented towards sustainability, inclusiveness and female empowerment, from corporate communication to internal leadership. Under her leadership, the Milanese jewelry company - which has been part of the Kering Group since 2013 - has achieved 100% responsible gold purchasing. Indeed, Pomellato adheres to the Responsible Gold and Fairmined programs that focus on the duty to preserve nature and renovate mining sites, as well as to guarantee fair wages to local miners, with a view to supporting their communities. Concrete actions to which participation in Kering's projects for the reforestation of the Amazon Rainforest and the launch in 2021 of the new Pomellato app for traceability can be added. In 2017, Sabina Belli launched the Pomellato For Women communication platform to mark the brand's 50th anniversary, taking a stand to defend gender equality, diversity and inclusivity, values that are particularly shared and expressed through an ever-growing community, involving some of the biggest names of our time. Through this means of communication, the company also fights gender-based violence by supporting the CADMI association, a shelter for battered women.

The prestigious Marketer of the Year award is given annually to entrepreneurs and managers who represent Made in Italy excellence and pursue innovative strategies consistent with the values expressed in the SIM Marketing Manifesto, thus not only creating economic value but also, and above all, social benefit.

Established in 2017, over the years the prize has been awarded to Brunello Cucinelli, President of Brunello Cucinelli, Alberto Bombassei, President of Brembo (2018), Guido Barilla, President of the Barilla Group (2019), and Giuseppe Lavazza, Vice President of Luigi Lavazza (2020).

«I am honored to be the President of the Council that has awarded the Marketer of the Year Prize to a woman for the first time, but even more satisfied that the choice has fallen on a highly professional person who, with her work, has managed to combine - and create value - the world of business with the world of sustainability and inclusiveness,» said Angelo Di Gregorio, President of SIM and Director of CRIET, the Inter-University Research Centre in Economics in the territory of Milan’s Bicocca University where he is a professor of economics and business management.
