Vicenzaoro Highlights, September 2025: Teamwork Pays Off
Vicenzaoro is the cradle of next gen jewelry thanks to the debut of important training and culture organizations, and the promotion of cooperation models between institutions and companies
Last Friday, at the opening of Vicenzaoro September organized by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, we announced a program of over 30 hours of talks and seminars during the 5 days of the show, covering the hottest topics in the entire supply chain. A program that CIBJO and VO Vintage have contributed to significantly, each bringing their own know-how and essential news for those who live and breathe the jewelry and watchmaking world. Among the news that will leave its mark and on which we will certainly have updates at the January edition, was the announcement of the opening of the International Fine Jewellery Academy, a new educational institute based in Milan and a project strongly supported by CIBJO and sponsored by strategic partners, that aims to become a high-level institution with great appeal for students from all over the world interested in making jewelry their profession.
On stage at Vicenzaoro last Saturday, alongside CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri, were: Alessia Crivelli, President of Fondazione Mani Intelligenti, Umberto Bellini, President of Asseprim / Vice-President of Confcommercio Milan, Simonpaolo Buongiardino and Gabriele Cartasegna, respectively president and director of CAPAC — the largest Italian trade association, active in 155 different sectors —, and Marie Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability and International Affairs Officer at Kering.
The meeting can be clearly summarized: in the global capital of fashion and luxury, a training school is opening its doors with the aim of bridging the gap between the extraordinary know-how of the best goldsmiths in the Valenza district, represented by Fondazione Mani Intelligenti, and young people who want to turn their passion for jewelry into a high-profile profession through in-depth courses, not only in design and aesthetics, but also in innovation, technology and sustainability.
The fact that Vicenzaoro was chosen as the venue for the official launch of this important initiative, which embodies the flavor and spirit of a small but pivotal revolution within the jewelry industry, is significant. The topic of education, strategic for the industry, is widely, increasingly and urgently supported by Italian Exhibition Group as well as the trade associations and institutions to enable the generational change that is now necessary in various areas of the jewelry sector.
As for VO Vintage, which was held for the first time in September, topics included collecting as a conscious critical practice, far from fads and speculative logic, ways of creating independent taste and individual skills, and the numerous challenges of authentication in the contemporary market, which is being increasingly polluted by perfect clones, invisible restorations, reworked artefacts and multi-channel sales methods that are difficult to control.
Another example of how cooperation between parties can only benefit the industry was brought to light by the Campania Gold District, which took part in a talk previewing what will happen on December 1st, the date set for granting cameo and coral products PGI status, currently under consideration at EUIPO, the European Union Intellectual Property Office. As Campania Gold District president, Vincenzo Giannotti, pointed out, by 2026 the District will be ready to take on an international leadership role.
Between past and future, from gemological analysis of Pompeii jewelry to global market showcases, Campania jewelry is now more synonymous than ever with artistic creation but also a symbol of identity and enterprise, the excellence of a region that has been producing beauty for more than two thousand years.
