Vicenzaoro Highlights, September 2025: The Universal Lexicon of the Industry is Ready
The Blue List, the official document drawn up by CIBJO with guidelines on sustainability for the jewelry sector, has been completed at Vicenzaoro
On Saturday, Vicenzaoro hosted the final stage of a long and complex process that began in 2018 to define the guidelines for the terminology used in the jewelry, gemstone and precious metals supply chain in relation to sustainability.
The operation had three primary objectives which involved meetings between experts in the field from around the world: to promote transparency, clarity and consumer confidence in order to prevent the use of misleading or ambiguous terms that might create confusion, thereby strengthening the sector’s credibility; to establish a common language for the industry, ensuring that product claims and practices are accurate, substantiated and easily understood; to promote the adoption of ethical and sustainable practices along the supply chain, in line with the commitment to responsibility.
There could therefore be no better context than Vicenzaoro to bring this process to a conclusion, given the significant commitment shown in recent years by Italian Exhibition Group in support of clear and unambiguous best practices.
The final document, presented on Saturday by a multinational group of spokespersons led by CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri, contains five main sections: Company statements (terms relating to commercial activities), Supply terms (words relating to the origin and provenance of materials), Product statements (terms describing jewelry and gemstones), Tracking terms (language relating to supply chain traceability), Terms to Avoid (a section on terms that should not be used in order to avoid confusion).
Lastly, like other CIBJO Blue Books, the Blue List is meant to be a “living” document subject to regular reviews and updates.
