What about this format dedicated to independent international designers appealed to you?
Participating at VICENZAORO means returning home, but it also means taking on a new challenge. We are focused on having a presence on the Italian market. We are excited about The Design Room. The elegant and functional exhibition spaces and the promotional initiatives surrounding this format make for something innovative that will attract international buyers and the right press. We hope that good business opportunities follow.
Your company manufactures in Thailand mainly, but you speak about made in Italy.
We are in a technologically globalized society, and I don’t think it is right to talk about the ‘made in Italy’ concept only in terms of the place where the jewelry is manufactured. I speak about ‘made in Italy’ because my inspirations and my style are inextricably linked to Italian culture. I hope that our participation in The Design Room attracts even more attention to Italian creativity and on the figure of the designer.
What collections are you focusing on? All of our collections have a unique style. Understanding which to offer to the various markets is difficult. At VICENZAORO we present various ones so that the public can see the love and passion that goes into each of our jewelry pieces: from Peacock Dance, which is the featured collection for 2018, to the Historica, Dandy, and The Antique Journey lines. But also new one-off pieces.
Could you give us a sneak peek?
A necklace featuring a rare cameo — the work of the Saulini family of engravers famous in Rome in the nineteenth century; a jewelry parure inspired by roses, with spinels and multicolored stones set in pavé; then there’s the Bella Napoli necklace, one of the must fun pieces I’ve designed this year. It is a small masterpiece of love and cheer celebrating Neapolitan culture.
