From Singapore to Sydney, this is white-knuckle water sport at its most daring. And success on the water requires nothing less than perfect timing, which is why the new Edox Grand Ocean Chronograph Automatic is the official timepiece for the Extreme Sailing Series. Switzerland’s boutique watchmaker Edox has a proud track record of producing stylish and rugged sports watches and the new Grand Ocean Chronograph Automatic is no exception.

At 45mm, and constructed from a steel case and ceramic bezel with PVD coating, the Grand Ocean has at its heart a powerful automatic mechanical movement based on the ETA Valjoux 7750. A ratcheted unidirectional rotating bezel is marked off with dive times, while the outer case also has a tachymeter scale for calculating average speed or distance travelled. Water-resistant to 300m, the Grand Ocean’s special sub-counter enables the Extreme Sailing Series racers to count down to the exact second the crucial four minutes before each race start.
