Chinese filmmaker Chloe Zhao received in New York the annual award, which is presented to an up-and-coming filmmaker who has created an inspiring work of art to further their craft and talent.With a star-struck night at the Tribeca Film Festival® in New York, IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the art of filmmaking and showcased its support for emerging artists at the fifth annual “For the Love of Cinema” gala dinner. The Swiss watchmaker presents this award yearly to an emerging filmmaker whose work inspired and touched many people: and this is the case of Chloé Zhao whose film “The Rider” received a 50.000 USD prize.

The movie revolves around the touching story of a cowboy who, after suffering a near fatal head injury, undertakes a search for new identity and what it means to be a man in the heartland of America.

The ceremony, introduced by Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, and hosted by Samantha Bee, was packed with superstars, including actors Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, and Taylor Schilling as well as IWC brand ambassadors Rosamund Pike, Adriana Lima, and Karolina Kurkova. An exclusive performance by Tony and Grammy Award Winner Cynthia Erivo closed the evening’s event.
