Michele della Valle leads new Sotheby’s Sale

Sotheby's Geneva launches a New Jewellery Auction Series: "Fine Jewels" - First Edition to be held on 1 June 2017 led by jewellery creations by Michele della Valle, the Italian designer.

The sale will feature a nice array of antique jewels and signed jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Boivin, and will be led by captivating selection of jewellery creations by one of the most original and creative jewellery designers of our time: Michele della Valle.

The 82 lots will be a leaf-patterned necklace set with tsavorite, diamonds and oval emeralds, valued at $30,000 to $50,000, Sotheby’s said. A bracelet of diamond parrots with sapphire, ruby and emerald wings and tails will be among the lots as well, with a $5,000 to $8,000 value. A diamond-and-gem necklace featuring tourmaline, aquamarine, amethyst, heliodor and peridot has also been valued at $25,000 to $35,000, while on the lower end of the price spectrum, a sapphire-and-diamond brooch in the shape of a marlin will be on offer for an estimated $3,000 to $5,500. Other pieces inspired by nature include a bangle with a clump of coral strawberries, emerald leaves and diamond-set flowers (pictured) — estimated at $15,000 to $20,000 — and a floral-motif necklace with sapphires, rubies and black diamonds that is expected to sell for $25,000 to $35,000.
