VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show: the New Vision

The VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show at the Dubai World Trade Centre is about to open its doors from 15 to 18 November, introducing a new B2B and B2C formula

When the doors open, from 15 to 18 November, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show, in its position as the only consolidated B2B and B2C jewellery event in the region, will welcome over 500 regional, local and international exhibitors, buyers, retailers and investors from all over the world. The Super Show groups together all the players along the international jewellery distribution chain: chambers of commerce, wholesalers,  retailers, merchants and end consumers. During the four themed days, Dubai will be ready to strengthen its position as a global crossroads for the gold and jewellery market. Visitors will feast their eyes on creations by leading international jewellery and watch brands, and that's not all. At the same time, the Pearl of the Gulf will also be hosting the Dubai Motor Show and the Arab Fashion Week. VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show, created by the fusion of VICENZAORO Dubai, a show reserved for traders, and the consumer show Dubai International Jewellery Week, is organized by DV Global Link, the joint-venture company set up by Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) and Italian Exhibition Group (IEG). «The presence of buyers with high spending power is a crucial factor for the success of the new VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show,» explains Emanuele Guido, General Manager of DV Global Link. «Optimizing the attendance of new buyers will widen the exhibitors' business movements, maximise match-making opportunities and strengthen the show's reputation, favoring its growth year by year.» Tawhid Abdullah, Executive Chairmain of Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group,  is enthusiastic: «VOD DIJS is a one-of-a-kind fusion between retail sales and the trade show and I believe it will be highly successful. I am certain that we will achieve the objective of becoming, by 2022, the leading jewellery show focused on inter-company trade in the MENA region. Dubai has the infrastructure to host big trade shows and we therefore have the potential to be the world's number one.» «Thanks to VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show,» said Franco Bosoni, Innovation Hub Director at the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, «our business customers and retailers will have a valuable opportunity to test emerging trends and develop innovative solutions to sustain future growth. It is the perfect environment to promote the activities that Dubai and DMCC are carrying out on a global scale and, at the same time, to extend the network of contacts between the players in the local and international markets.»

Tawhid Abdullah, Chairmain of Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, partner of DV Global Link, gives his point of view about the elements to measure success.
«I measure success based on whether I’ve done better than last year. I’m always looking 5 years ahead, and each year I want to do 15-20% better than the last. I think by 2022 we will have a fully mature exhibition and then we will take on the next stage – then it’s only a matter of size. My aim is to push the Dubai part of the show to the international audience and build it up as a platform to introduce another 50 tonnes of jewellery to the region, on top of the 350 tonnes we already see. If the exhibition can contribute that level of trade to our existing levels, it will be extremely significant.»
