Vicenzaoro Highlights, September 2026: Recarlo, Bonds Beyond Bridal
Massimiliano Bonoli, Creative Director of Recarlo, explains the concept behind Link-E, the Valenza-based maison's first modular and transformable collection, expanding the brand's language beyond the bridal universe
How did Link-E come to life, and what does its name represent?
«Link-E says it all. Link stands for connection, a concept we wanted to reinforce through three fundamental drivers: emotion, excellence and essence. Emotion, because we want to convey authentic feelings; excellence, because it is one of Recarlo's founding values; and essence, because every woman should be able to express her own beauty and identity.»
What inspired the collection?
«We started from Art Deco, reinterpreting it in a contemporary way. Our starting point was the octagon, a perfect shape between the square and the circle: the square represents the earthly and material dimension, while the circle embodies the spiritual one. From there, we developed a chain made of elongated and compressed octagons that merge with the heart-cut diamond, now Recarlo's true stylistic signature.»
Is the chain the central element of the project?
«Absolutely. The repetition of the chain allowed us to create a modular system capable of generating a wide range of jewels: rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. We strongly believe in stackability and layering. Every woman can mix and match the pieces to create her own style.»
How important is functionality in the design of Link-E?
«It is a fundamental aspect. The hidden clasp reproduces the shape of the link itself, while the articulated connections allow different ways of wearing the jewels, transforming them from bracelet to choker and vice versa. It is the first time in Recarlo's history that we have developed such a modular and transformable concept.»
Does this collection also mark an evolution in the brand's positioning?
«While we remain a leader in bridal jewellery, we felt the need to move beyond exclusively celebratory moments. We want to create jewels that are perfect for every occasion, while preserving our manufacturing heritage and the central role of the gemstone, and at the same time embracing a more contemporary dimension.»
Does the same approach apply to the More collection?
«Yes. With More, the heart remains the protagonist, but it opens up to new interpretations through the introduction of colour and semi-precious stones. We wanted greater vibrancy and joy, assigning a specific cut to each gemstone in dialogue with the diamond.»
What does the heart-cut diamond represent for Recarlo today?
«It no longer tells only the story of romantic love. It has become the symbol of Recarlo's values, from creativity to sustainability. A true signature of style.»
