The Future is Now
More trends that the jewellery retailers will see.
Text by Esther B.J. Ligthart / Illustrations by Davide ParereVO+ Jewellery & Luxury Magazine selected the most important emerging directions that are leading to a whole new era of jewellery and luxury retail.
3D Printing
Whilst becoming cheaper, it offers all kinds of possibilities. One of them being an e-commerce company that can send a 3D printed model to the client. She can try it out at home before making the actual purchase.
Concierge Service
Small retailers, working mostly by word of mouth, offering personalized and often customized jewellery. Like ‘’House of Eléonore’’ in Amsterdam, backed by the Royal Asscher diamond company. This small jewellery company visits clients either at home or welcome them into their workshop.
Customization
Just as Tesla offers ultra luxury cars, which can be customized completely online, the jewellery retail sector will also see such developments. According to Bain & Co, 25% of shoppers would love to be able to customize their jewels today.
Mobile
The use of our treasured mobile devices will increase, as will our desire to have easy access to websites. Mobiles will perhaps even become our primary method of purchase! Both as a method of payment and orientation of where and how we buy our products.
Better Websites
Not offering the possibility for purchase on your website? You’ll risk that the website will be seen as just a glorified leaflet. No call to action will simply be not such a great idea. Stores will have to invest to create ever better online purchasing experiences on their websites.
