New Names To Know in Jewelry

Carlotta Dasso, 404 Place Vendôme, Anna Maccieri Rossi: three new brand offering a fresh approach to contemporary jewelry

Carlotta Dasso

She loves to define her jewels as “wearable sculptures”. Carlotta Dasso founded a brand in her name in 2016, at the age of 27. After two years, she opened a showroom in Turin where customers can discover her collections or order a custom piece. «I have a young business, and this is why I chose to maintain the idea of a jewel that can also be personalized,» she explains. Her style brings together tradition in manufacturing and conceptual inspirations. For Carlotta, however, what is important is to create a dialogue between objects and the wearer: «The jewelry piece never dictates the look. We give it a story. I think that strong design is about knowing how to create an object that someone would want to write a story about.»

404 Place Vendôme

This stands out among the many interesting brands to be discovered. 404 Place Vendôme is a Paris-based project dedicated to incredibly unique jewels. Its debut marks «The advent of a new world, where the opinion of the customer is finally taken into consideration and his or her desires fully respected.» This is how co-founders Alexandre Karkeji and Julien Attias describe it. Alexandre represents the third generation of a family of artisanal jewelers while Julien is an expert in new technologies. The two have come together to launch their idea in the world of gems, perfectly combining the digital world with traditional jewelry, with a range of innovative collections that can be personalized by each client with a 3D online configurator that is easy to use.

Anna Maccieri Rossi

“Learn something today as it could be useful tomorrow” is an expression that could describe Anna Maccieri Rossi’s career. She began working with Cartier and then moved on to the style offices at Jaeger-LeCoultre. Today, she collaborates with important brands, but she’s also launched her own personal project called AMR, a new line of high-end jewels inspired by her background in watches. Anna has come up with a series of jewels that “borrow” automatisms and stylistic characteristics from the Métiers d’Art. She creates transformable objects that use movement to represent the value of time. Time that shouldn’t be chased after but remembered and held dear.
