Schiaparelli Haute Couture S/S 21: The Magic of Jewels

The Art Director of the French Maison Daniel Roseberry, keeps on imposing a "disobedient" and experimental jewelry

«As irreverent as all this seems, it actually follows in the legacy of the house and its founder,» states Daniel Roseberry about his Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring / Summer 2021 collection, presented last January in Paris. A statement that applies to the clothes as well as to the bijoux that accompanied them. The art director of the French Maison continues to impose his visionary creativity - we had already talked about it here, creating jewels that are closely connected with the clothes they adorn. The focus is on the surreal and oversized earrings, which mention several of the most iconic creations of the founder Elsa Schiaparelli. They are in golden brass, embellished with white resin beads or rhinestones, amber resin cabochons, white or black enamel and trompe l'oeil elements. Large eye-shaped earrings or in the shape of ears pierced, important spirals of snakes and maxi piercing compositions give a surprising aesthetic imagery that continues to follow the ambition of the great couturier: «To experiment, to be disobedient, in all things: fabrication, shape, color, iconography.»
